How the water filter works.

The big advantage of the Sawyer Mini SP101 compared to other water filters and water purification methods is that with this filter, you don't have to pump, add chemicals, wait, or worry about its operation. You simply filter the water by pressing it through the filter with a water bag or by sucking the water through the filter. For example, with the special straw provided. Very simple and without much force.

0.1 micron filter membrane.

The Sawyer Mini SP128 features a 0.1 micron hollow fibre membrane. This makes the water filter lightweight, compact, durable and easy to use. Water is passed through the membrane by pressure or suction, filtering out impurities. With Sawyer filters, you purify your drinking water from bacteria, sand and clay particles, plants (residues) and algae, protozoa, and cysts such as Giardia, Cholera and Salmonella and any other particles larger than 0.1 microns. Also, the filter is able to remove the taste caused by these particles.

Extremely long life.

The Sawyer Mini SP128 lasts approximately 370,000 litres of water! In fact, you don't need to replace any parts with this filter. As soon as your water filter slows down, you can flush it with the included backwash sprayer. This sprays water in the opposite direction through the filter, simply rinsing away the dirt. So the filter doesn't wear out or get saturated quickly. Compare the filter on price and lifespan with a traditional water filter!

Easy to use.

The SP128 features a screw cap that allows you to easily mount it on a PET (soft drink) bottle or the included Squeezable Pouch (water bag). This allows you to drink with it immediately. On the drinking side of the water filter is a resealable cap. This is not leak-proof, and so can only be used to drink and then remove the filer from the pouch or bottle. The Sawyer mini has a handy straw as an extra, allowing you to drink directly from the water source.

The Sawyer Mini SP128 comes complete and is ready to use straight away. In the box you will find the filter itself, a 0.5 litre water bag, a drinking straw, backwash syringe and maintenance and cleaning instructions.

Rick's choice

This filter is my preferred choice in the field, it is hugely small and practical to use. The squeeze system works well, you are not dependent on your own suction or gravity. You can drink the water directly or store it in a container.
