Merino Balaclava 400:
The Merino Balaclava 400 is made of Ullfrotté Original 400g this knitted fabric is slightly thicker than the Ullfrotté 200 fabrics. This fabric is hard-wearing and made of fine merino wool, polyamide and, above all, air. The air in the fabric is very important because it insulates your body heat.
Wool is nature's functional fabric and so far no synthetic fibres have been able to mimic all the unique properties of wool. The fabric does not smell bad when you sweat, for example. Moreover, it keeps you dry because wool can absorb up to 30 per cent of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp. But if you get really wet, this mid layer will still keep you warm. It's because of a chemical process in the wool called absorption heat. Ullfrotté Original can be washed at 60 degrees.
Woolpower focuses on making functional clothing. The clothing is ideal for bushcrafting in slightly colder conditions. The clothing can lose its shape a little but because it is mostly underwear that you wear under other clothing, the shape does not matter that much.
Woolpower Ullfrotté Original is round-knitted and therefore has very few seams that can chafe. Seams are always the weakest link in a garment, so our clothing is very durable. The cuffs are elasticated and also knitted into the fabric. The clothes are made entirely in Östersund, Jämtland, from the yarn to the finished product. Woolpower's seamstresses sew an entire garment from start to finish, moving between machines. When they are satisfied with the result, they sew their own nameplate into the garment. That's why you always know who sewed your Woolpower underwear.
