Tjarsalva - Tar Ointment

Birch tar works excellently as a drying, astringent, anti-itch, local anaesthetic and for skin renewal.
This ointment contains birch tar and lanolin (fat from sheep's wool).
The ointment has a soothing and improving effect on the skin. A remedy that has been used in Lapland for centuries!

Tar is considered an itching, local anaesthetic, stimulates the formation of new skin and has been an ingredient in ointments since the Roman Empire.

In Nordic countries, tar has long been a universal remedy and is used in many ways to keep skin in good condition.

With this caring and soothing Tjärsalva, you quickly correct dry, cracked and irritated skin.

This ointment contains completely pure anhydrous lanolin and also our own valley-roasted pine tar that has a very pleasant and aromatic fragrance.

Lanolin is a natural fat product extracted from sheep's wool. A fat that does not clog pores, it has an excellent ability to retain the skin's natural moisture and keep it soft and supple. Lanolin protects our skin in the same way that wool protects sheep from weather, wind and dehydration.

Lanolin has unmatched moisturising ability and keeps skin smooth and soft. It covers, protects, retains moisture, softens and is suitable for chaps on hands and feet, dry skin, cuts, abrasions, the list can be made as long as you want while allowing the skin to breathe.

Wilma's tar ointment contains only 95% lanolin and 5% of our best valley-burnt pine tar, so our tar ointment feels stickier than most other ordinary skin ointments.

But that is exactly why this one is so great!

Unfortunately, you can often find ointments of a similar type that contain some cheap vegetable oil or, in worse cases, petroleum jelly. Vaseline is just a cheap filler and since it is a petroleum product, it has absolutely nothing to do with the skin.

Nothing like that belongs in this ointment, but the more lanolin the better ... sticky and absolutely delicious!

This lanolin ointment has the absolutely fantastic softening and moisturising properties of lanolin, while having all the good qualities of tar.
