Detailed description:

The main compartment measures 35 x 30 x 75 cm and is accessed via a large zip. The inside of the lid features strips of loop for attaching accessories with a hook back. The main compartment is a concave space with two mesh pockets, one at each end, to help organise smaller items.

The external side pocket measures 35 x 23 x 5 cm and is designed for quick access and organisation of smaller items and A4 documents. The back wall features two flat mesh pockets and a D-ring and two webbing tabs to secure valuables with a dummy cord or buckles. The inside of the front wall has a loop for attaching accessories with a hook back.

The flat external pocket with Velcro closure measures 24 x 20 cm and is suitable for A5 documents and similar smaller items.

Two 10 x 15 cm loop fields on the side and end of the bag accept most name tags and some other identification. Each D-ring can also be used to attach name tags.

Savotta has put extra energy into providing the best possible carrying experience. The length of the carry handles keeps the bag at a comfortable carrying height and provides good control. Each end is fitted with a handle for comfortable lifting during transport. Six steel D-rings are used to attach the included adjustable shoulder strap, which offer different orientations to suit your personal taste. The D-rings are also the attachment points for the optional padded shoulder straps.

Modular and adaptable

The loop strips in the main compartment and side compartment lid can accommodate various hook-to-loop attachable accessories, pouches and organisers. This allows you to customise your bag according to your preferences, or build it into a specialised toolkit for whatever work you need it for.

The closed-cell foam padding on the inside of the zipped lid and bottom of the bag can be easily removed, replaced or reinforced. This allows the end user to easily customise the bag with extra padding or plastic inserts if that extra level of protection or padding is needed.

The Keikka series bags can be used with an optional (sold separately) padded clip-on backpack harness. While carrying the backpack, the closed-cell foam padding on the inside of the lid provides basic comfort against your back, even if you carry nasty crap in the bag. When a backpack with a bag like this needs to be as uncomfortable as possible, let's face it - this will never be as comfortable as a real backpack. Instead of building these bags with un-ergonomic, overly long handles that also act as shoulder straps, we decided to make this a separate option for those who really need it, so we can build each carry option appropriately for its intended function.

Materials and construction

The bags in the Keikka range are made to last. The carry handles are made from a single length of 50 mm-wide webbing that wraps around the bottom of the bag, sandwiched between two layers of 1000D Cordura. The stress points are reinforced with double stitching and the seams are finished with binding tape to prevent fraying. All the carry buckles are steel and are likely to last longer than the rest of the bag.

Most of the materials are the same ones used for the Finnish Armed Forces and other defence and security customers. The most commonly used fabric in load carriers is extremely abrasion-resistant 1000D Cordura, to FDF specifications, with polyurethane coating on the inside. Strong polyester webbing in various widths and thicknesses for different applications.

Right responsible production

The vast majority of Savotta is made in our own factories in Karstula, Finland and Tartu, Estonia. Product development and special production stages such as laser cutting and metalworking take place in Finland, while textile cutting and sewing are done in both Finland and Estonia. At Savotta, they constantly work hard to keep production in their own hands!
