Description:
The unrivalled design of the Bigboy 2000, fully adapted to the highest demands of hunters and bushcrafters. Meet the Bigboy 2000 Outback Edition!
A thick and rigid saw blade makes this Bigboy Outback Edition 100% outdoor proof. Silky has applied a black coating of a unique nickel/tin mix to the entire blade, including the teeth. This ensures long blade life and incredible cutting performance. In addition, the dark, non-reflective colour makes this saw particularly suitable for tactical operations.
The curved blade grips effortlessly into the wood and helps to keep the saw in the cut. With a blade length of 36 cm, you have a long reach and can cut logs up to 18 cm in diameter with ease. The blade folds in and out smoothly with the lock button and has two different cutting positions. Use this saw with both hands for extra cutting power.
The 'Arbor Composite' handle is made of a wood/composite composition, giving a warm and comfortable feel and superior control. The handle is a little harder than Silky's usual GOM rubber grip, but offers more grip with greasy substances.
Take this saw everywhere you go; the Bigboy 2000 Outback Edition is compact, lightweight and comes with a nylon zippered storage bag as standard. The inside of the bag has a protective coating that is also easy to keep clean.
How to use
Silky saws are designed to cut with the pulling motion. When first starting, you position the pull saw so that the teeth closest to the handle engage the wood first. After the pulling motion, guide the saw back to the starting position by a pushing motion (without force). During the pulling movement, the thin blade cannot bend because there is no lateral force on it. The blade only follows the saw cut. Should the saw still clamp, never push or force hard, this may cause lateral forces and damage or break the saw blade. Always remove the clamping weight to free the saw.
The Silky saw guarantees a fine cut and requires little cutting force. Do not stress the saw. As your grandfather used to say: let the saw do the work. You will be less likely to get tired and it benefits the life of the saw.
You can slightly control the saw's wood removal rate by where you hold the handle:
- Close to the blade: there is relatively little pressure on the blade. The saw will take the least amount of wood, allowing you to cut very controlled and with precision.
- Further away from the blade: more pressure comes to bear on the blade. The cutting action is maximum, but less precise.
We are not responsible for any damage caused by improper use.
Maintenance
- Treat your saw with love. The Silky saw blade must be kept clean or the cutting action will be lost. Resin dissolves in olive oil, so this is an effective, eco-friendly way to clean the blade. Be aware, however, that if you use more aggressive agents, they may affect the rubber of the handles.
- When not in use, dry the saw thoroughly, put it in its holster and store in a dry place.
- Keep out of reach of children.
